Comice

Comice ImageThis semi-round pear is among the sweetest pears in the category. Although sometimes cosmetically challenged this smooth textured pear is perfect as a dessert or used in salads. Color changes little during ripening but is best eaten when the neck yields to gentle pressure.

Seckel

Seckel ImageSmall in size but mighty in sweet flavor is the best description of the Seckel. Once known as a sugar pear the Seckel is a great snack for kids and adults alike. Seckels do not change color when ripe but become soft around the stem. Seckels are perfect for eating out of hand or baking.

French Butter

French Butter ImageA unique dessert pear the French Butter hails from ancient European stock. Grown primarily in Northern California the French Butter is a seasonal pear in relatively limited production. Sometimes hard to find but worth the effort as this pear has a sweet buttery smooth texture and is perfect for eating out of hand or baking.

Star Crimson

A delicious snack or perfect addition to a salad, Stark Crimson is a great colorful accent to any fruit bowl. They do not change color when ripe but soften at the neck when ready to eat.
