2015 Conclusion
December 21, 2015

The 2015 crop has come to a close.  Thankfully we finally set a cherry crop albeit way short of potential.  The Bartlett, Golden Bosc and red pear crops were good although other varietal pears were way down.  All and all it was a good season for our company thanks to you, our customers and friends.  Much needed rain and cold weather has returned to the valley.  Pruning and preparing for the 2016 crop has already begun and at this early stage we are optimistic for a good crop of all varieties in 2016.  Thank you again for a great 2015 and we wish you all a safe, prosperous 2016.

Kiwi are coming!
October 20, 2015

Fresh California pears are winding down but not out!  There are still good supplies of Golden Bosc in both large and small sizes as well as a limited supply of Bartletts in small sizes.  Kiwi are next with harvest to begin the week of October 26.  Total crop yield looks like it will be about the same as last year however sizing may be down a bit.  Fruit quality and flavor will be excellent!

Our Company

David J. Elliot & Sons is a grower, packer, and shipper of fresh pears, apples, kiwifruit, and cherries. We are located near Courtland California, which is 22 miles south of Sacramento. The orchards around Courtland, next to the beautiful Sacramento River, are known to produce some of the best pears in the world.

We take pride in our family farming business, as we have for 150 years. We grow, pack, and ship our own fruit. We grow many different varieties of pears on our rich Delta soil: The famous Bartlett; the long russet Golden Bosc; the bright red Stark Crimson; the juicy Comice; the buttery French Butter and the sweet Seckel Pear. Besides pears, we also grow the red Bing Cherry and the Rainer Cherry, which is golden yellow with a rosy blush. We grow Royal Gala, Fuji and Pink Lady apples that are always sweet and crisp. Our kiwifruit are harvested just in time for the holidays.
