Fresh California Bartlett pears available now
July 5, 2014

We’re underway!  This year’s California Bartlett pear crop is ready for harvest.  Fruit finish is outstanding due to a mild dry spring and sizing is up.  While statewide the pear crop is down from last year we plan to increase our fresh pear production with the addition of a second packing line.  Organic Bartletts will be added to our growing list of products this year rounding out the complete pear category.  Currently we are offering Stark Crimson, the first full red pear of the season, as well as Bartletts.  Next up will be Golden Bosc around July 28 followed by French Butter, Seckels, Comice and Forelle by early to mid-August.

Fresh pears are early this year!
June 25, 2014

The first red pear of the season, Stark Crimson, will start the week of June 30 with Bartletts to follow on the week of July 7. Mild weather from bloom time on has helped to provide one of the cleanest crops in recent memory. Sizing is expected to be up from last year as well. Grow your pear category with “America’s favorite pear” by offering California Bartletts from David J. Elliot and Son early and throughout the summer.

Our Company

David J. Elliot & Sons is a grower, packer, and shipper of fresh pears, apples, kiwifruit, and cherries. We are located near Courtland California, which is 22 miles south of Sacramento. The orchards around Courtland, next to the beautiful Sacramento River, are known to produce some of the best pears in the world.

We take pride in our family farming business, as we have for 150 years. We grow, pack, and ship our own fruit. We grow many different varieties of pears on our rich Delta soil: The famous Bartlett; the long russet Golden Bosc; the bright red Stark Crimson; the juicy Comice; the buttery French Butter and the sweet Seckel Pear. Besides pears, we also grow the red Bing Cherry and the Rainer Cherry, which is golden yellow with a rosy blush. We grow Royal Gala, Fuji and Pink Lady apples that are always sweet and crisp. Our kiwifruit are harvested just in time for the holidays.
